I'd like to hear from the guys in the field on things like this. I wonder how much of this great new tech they develope actually works and how much of it is just crap.

Advanced technology will render old technologhy obsolete.

Get advanced technology when you are able.

This thing works just like a GPS, by determining the time delay of the sound arrival at the 4 microphones, it's a simple exercise to calculate the sound origin, the longer the baseline between microphones, the more accurately. It should be more or less fool proof in the open. Where the gremlins will start showing up will be in an urban environment in which the sound bounces off buildings and arrives by various paths. That will screw the calculation.

Interesting almost like a reverse sonar ping from a sub. True I bet in a urban spot it would be problematic.
But in the desert or open areas ouch.
I dont see this being used by anyone but a good sized group though.

The device, which costs around 2,500, works by isolating the crack of the sniper rifle thanks to four microphones, a GPS system and a powerful microprocessor

so basically, it's useless until that first shot is fired
and if a sniper is any good, all you need is one shot

what they should do is hook up this gadget to a 50 cal, for a quick overkill response

and if you get 3 snipers spaced out at 150 yd intervals
in radio contact with each other, shooting at the same time, what then ?

I wonder though Something with 3-4 microphones & GPS I doubt is used by a single person so a one shot kill wont matter. If the group being shot at then trains artillery to clear that area they pinpointed with the device?

What if that one shot is aimed at the device? ;)

Subsonic bullets would probably skirt under this things radar. Also could be used to set up an ambush. There could be dummy noise makers planted in areas that would make the guys using this technology go exactly where the sniper wanted them to for easy pickings.

Good news is that the "average" sniper is most likely looking down his scope at someone not surrounded by a bunch of technology.

Where can I get one? The 2nd Amendment was meant to keep the people up to speed with the military so we would not be controlled by tyranny. Maybe we need to start demanding our rights back. We can argue that technology has enabled man to be enslaved by a few. This was never supposed to happen. The constituion was meant to protect us. We really do need a total world economic collapse to keep technology at bay.

The kicker is that you and every American tax payer funded the research that allowed them to exert control over you.

How do you feel?

And if the sniper moves .. then what .. you know where he was and he can reposition himself to shoot the guys trying to go to his previous spot.
